"Children's right to protection"
The European Commission launched a competition open to all young people in the European Union. Those wishing to take part in the competition will have to design a poster illustrating the idea of their right to their own protection in the EU. Participants will be divided into two age categories (10-14 and 15-18) and must work in groups of at least four. The aim of the competition is to ensure that the young European citizens are more aware of their right to protection and are better equipped to defend it.

"Is Social Europe Fit for Globalisation?"
A study of the social impact of globalisation in the European Union
This study examines the social impact of globalisation for the EU economies and the policy challenges that arise. It starts by looking at the conceptual background, then provides an extensive empirical analysis of the different facets of globalisation and its social dimension, and moves on to discuss policy issues. The study?s key message is that the EU as a whole will gain from globalisation, but that these gains will not be uniformly distributed across individuals, regions and countries. Nor will they accrue automatically, but will instead depend on successful adaptation and welljudged policy responses. In particular, the EU has to balance its efforts to boost competitiveness and to transform its economy by adopting and implementing policies that smooth the adjustment process and offer sufficient protection to those vulnerable to the changes and uncertainties that globalisation will bring.

Making Waves - have more impact with your youth projects!
A practical booklet about how to make most out of your youth (in action) project: it takes you on a journey of raising the visibility of your project and it helps you consciously develop a plan to get your project results out to the people. With lots of practical tips and tricks to get you started. Visibility, dissemination and exploitation of results are important features of the Youth in Action programme. SALTO-YOUTH pro-actively took up its 'support role' within the YiA programme and developed this practical publication for youth workers faced with these visibility, dissemination and exploitation requests in their projects.
The booklet has been developed by Tony Geudens of the SALTO Inclusion Resource Centre, based on contributions from different NAs, SALTO, NGOs and Commission colleagues.
It can be downloaded from: http://www.salto-youth.net/MakingWaves/.
