European Schoolnet Association of Petrochemicals Producers in Europe
Xperimania Competition - Science Ambassadors
The Xperimania wants students to set up an easy and fun experiment in science relating to petrochemistry, materials and properties. The focus is on classroom and laboratory activities.
This competition aims to increase the interest in science in secondary schools across Europe, making science lessons more fun and interesting.
Students are expected to come up with a small scientific research study on materials and properties found in their every-day lives.
They are invited to devise their own hypotheses and experiments and upload their lab reports on the website gallery accompanied by photographs, films or other multimedia sources to illustrate the work.
Students are invited to participate in a
variety of activities and a competition:
Check out the property: investigate a property in a familiar object using simple hands-on experiments
Timeline of everyday objects: investigate a discovery and illustrate what they have found out about it
Hands on experiments: set up an easy and fun experiment and upload lab reports on this website
Multilingual online chats with experts on specific topics related to petrochemistry.

The Xperimania science ambassadors
In 2009 Xperimania sends science ambassadors right into to the classroom to demonstrate the fun side of science. Schools can now send their application to an Xperimania science ambassador, who will pay a visit to three selected schools between February - April 2010.
In the schools, the ambassadors will conduct a one or two-hour workshop with inspiring and interactive chemistry and physics experiments which get the studentsÂ’ hands, literally, on science.
The ambassadors will also provide easy tips on how to present the experiment results to a general public in the form of a lab report.
Who can participate?
All schools in the EU Member States, candidate countries and EFTA countries are invited to join in.
Participating students must be aged 10-20 years old.
