Eurodesk Awards "Champions of European Youth Information" Launched in 2011, Eurodesk Awards celebrate the day-to-day work of our Eurodesk multipliers, who are helping young people discover and seize the numerous opportunities Europe has to offer.
2011 Eurodesk Awards edition
All Eurodesk multipliers from across Europe were invited to submit their project/action. A European jury evaluated all project applications and select the awards laureates. On 9 September 2011, on the occasion of Eurodesk's activities at the II Youth Convention on Volunteering in Brussels, the first-ever “Champions of European Youth Information” have been awarded in three categories + a special recognition award.
The 2011 Eurodesk Award for the Information and Dissemination Champion went to the
Youth Information Centre of Zaragoza CIPAJ (Spain)
In his award presentation, Mr Gregory Paulger, Director Youth and Sport of the European Commission highlighted in particular CIPAJ's comprehensive information services and the involvement of young people as information multipliers. Those 60 young "antennas" manage information points in their secondary schools, high schools and universities and inform their peers about European opportunities. In addition, the project stands out with the impressive outreach achieved through cooperation of all involved in a “Citizens Network of Youth Information” of 600 organisations and effective links to local and regional media.
The 2011 Eurodesk Award 2011 for the Multimedia & Online Activity Champion went to Asociación Juvenil Intercambia, Malaga (Spain)!
Eurodesk President Reinhard Schwalbach emphasized the approach of bringing together offline activities and multimedia tools to spread information and know-how. Furthermore, the award jury appreciated the focus of the project on bringing multimedia skills to young people in order to increase their employability.
The 2011 Eurodesk Award for Volunteer Involvement went to the Eurowerkstatt Jena (Germany)!
In his award presentation, Mr Peter Matjašic, President of the European Youth Forum, underlined the project's outstanding way of combining activities to present volunteering live and to inform young people about European and international volunteering opportunities.
The 2011 Eurodesk Special Recognition Award went to the Galway Youth Information Centre (Ireland)!
Ms Anja Ruhland, Director Eurodesk, presented the award pointing at the centre's focus on combining information with guidance and aiming at empowerment of young people through information.
